Understanding Powertrain Warranty vs. Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty

When you’re buying a new or pre-owned vehicle, one of the biggest concerns is usually the warranty. We hear the word “warranty” and assume everything is covered. This is not the case. Stop at Apple Ford Lincoln of York and check out our vehicles and warranties and let us explain them for you.

The two most common warranty types are powertrain warranty and bumper-to-bumper warranty.

  • Powertrain warranties cover only the powertrain, but that’s generally the most expensive parts to repair.
  • Bumper-to-bumper warranties cover everything from the front bumper to the back bumper PLUS the powertrain.

Repairs due to normal wear and tear are not covered in either warranty. Because bumper-to-bumper warranties cover so much more, they are generally more expensive or last for a shorter amount of time.
